The 17 Most Sustainable Thrive Market Items
What’s the Hype About Thrive?
If you haven’t heard of Thrive Market yet, I am here to tell you that it is a game changer!! You can shop specific categories like organic, Whole 30, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Low FODMAP & more to make your online browsing easier! They have sustainable and non-toxic household items as well, which is what enticed me when I first came across it, in addition to their large selection of organic goods!
The most amazing part is how much more affordable this has been for my family! When comparing the exact same items listed on Thrive Market to Whole Foods, we are saving up to several dollars/item for the EXACT SAME products. There are even some items that Costo can’t even beat in price! This has to do with their low overhead costs, since they don’t have actual storefronts. Even with the annual fee to be a Thrive Market member, I am still saving a significant amount of money in groceries alone!
You can create auto-ship carts and have your selected items delivered to your door weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc. … whatever best meets your needs! Or, you can add one-time items to your cart and simply check out! I have found that you get an additional percent off when you use auto-ship, so I use this feature exclusively and simply log in the day that my items are going to ship and “skip” any of the items I don’t need that time around.
The packaging is also something that I appreciate. They use cardboard, paper tape, and recyclable paper “stuffers.” When we get our box each month, we let our daughter turn the box into a play fort, save the paper stuffing for any future packages, and recycle the rest. When our daughter is done with her “fort” we go ahead and recycle that cardboard box as well.
Thrive Market has made it so much easier to create and maintain a healthier home for my family! I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

My 17 Sustainable Favorites on Thrive Market
1. Blueland Dishwasher Tablets Starter Set
These leave my dishes squeaky clean every time and they don’t contain any yucky ingredients! They ship in a metal, reusable tin, that easily stores under my sink - but it’s definitely cute enough to store on your counter top! And they ship their refills in compostable packaging! I LOVE this company!!
2. Blueland Toilet Cleaner Starter Set
These tablets clean our toilet like a dream and smell really fresh and clean! Like the tablets above, these ship in a metal, reusable tin (that is so cute by the way), and their refills in compostable packaging! I HIGHLY recommend these!
3. Biom All-Purpose Cleaning Wipes Starter Set
These All-Purpose wipes ship in a reusable container (BPA free), are biodegradable, home compostable, and the refills ship in biodegradable packaging as well! We use the eucalyptus wipes and love them. They smell great and clean very well when we are wanting a more sanitized clean than our branch basics all-purpose spray. They have other scent options as well that I think would be great too! The container is also very cute - we leave it out on our counter!
4. Thrive Market Recycled Aluminum Foil
This roll of aluminum foil works just as great as your typical aluminum foil, but it is made from 98% recycled content! Go Thrive!
5. If You Care, Unbleached Large Baking Cups
I use these for baking and for play in my daughters sensory bin! I love that they are FSC certified, Compostable, and Totally Chlorine-Free (TCF). I will never use another baking cup…these are the best!
6. Bee’s Wrap Food Wraps
This is the most genius invention if you ask me! They work so well for wrapping fruits and veggies that have been cut, sealing containers that don’t have lids in the fridge, preserving the freshness of baked bread on a countertop, the list goes on and on! We even have one bees wrap that is past its age for wrapping food (after YEARS of repetitive use), so we repurposed it for opening lids that are stuck on jars…this was actually my husband’s idea and it works like a CHARM. They are also very easy to clean! I just rinse them off with some branch basics soap (we make our own from their concentrate) and some cold water, let it air dry, and that’s it!!
7. Compostic 100% Home Compostable Cling Wrap
The only time we really use this is when I have to wrap my sourdough tortilla dough to put it in the fridge - but it works like a charm for that! It is 100% home compostable and breaks down quicker than an average orange peel…so cool!
8. Thrive Market 100% Reclaimed Plastic Small Trash Bags, 4 Gallon
We use these in our bathrooms and they work great - we have not experienced any leaks or tears! They are made from 100% Reclaimed Plastic, which I appreciate! They are still made of plastic, so they are not a perfect option, but they are definitely better than most, and are certainly a more sustainable option than the traditional trash bag if you ask me!
9. Seventh Generation Toilet Paper Bath Tissue, 100% Recycled Paper
We tried out the Rosey toilet paper on thrive market as well but found it to be a bit too rough - so we have been using this Seventh Generation brand! It is made with 100% Recycled Paper, which is a more sustainable option than what you’ll get with traditional toilet paper! It is pretty soft and does not tear while you're using it!
10. Seventh Generation Unbleached Paper Towels, 100% Recycled Paper
We also have reusable paper towels, but these do come in handy for certain messes. I don’t like to use our reusable paper towels to clean surfaces that need to be disinfected, so that’s when these come in very handy! They are unbleached and 100% recycled (with a minimum of 80% being post-consumer recycled paper). They are very absorbent and clean tough messes well!
11. Repurpose Compostable 6 and 10 inch Plates
We use these compostable plates for things like birthday parties (when we don’t have enough dishes to feed the number of people coming over). They are sturdy enough to not bend with a big load of food on them and thick enough to not leak!
12. Repurpose Compostable Spoons and Forks
I pack a reusable silverware set for my work lunches, but my husband prefers to bring these spoons and forks! They are compostable, so they are certainly a better option than their plastic, non-compostable counterparts!
13. Thrive Market Organic Cotton Balls
These are organic cotton and chlorine free. They work as good as any other cotton ball I’ve used and are kinder on the planet! They are also very soft and gentle enough to use on my daughters skin (to clean scrapes and scratches).
14. Thrive Market Organic Cotton Rounds
Like the cotton balls above, these are organic cotton and chlorine free. They work great and are kinder on the planet! WIN WIN!
15. Cleanlogic Recycled Mesh Bath Sponge
These are made with Recycled PE Mesh, and ship in a variety of fun colors (we have received purple, blue and white) - you don’t actually select the color you want, it is a surprise which one you’ll get! We have auto ship set up on these to receive 2 at a time (one for my husband and one for myself) and they always send 2 different colors, which I appreciate so we don’t mix ours up in the shower! They clean and lightly exfoliate very well. They are made of PE Mesh, which is not a perfect option in terms of sustainability, but it is recycled, which is a more sustainable option than many competing loofas.
16. Natracare Maxi Pads - Regular
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be using feminine care products filled with chemicals or plastic! These pads are plastic free, perfume free, and have an organic cotton cover! They are super absorbent and work great for my heavy flow days! They are also labeled as 1% for the planet.
17. Humble Sensitive Skin Deodorant, Mountain Lavender in a Plastic-Free, Compostable Container
This deodorant comes in a plastic-free, compostable container and smells great! I have very sensitive skin, and this formulation is very gentle, even for me! It smells great and does not stain my clothes! I am a big fan and highly recommend!
